Good data is the foundation of any analysis. We go to great
lengths not only to be an information resource but to decipher its
underlying trends. Our team tracks all types of market information, from
socio-economic profiles to retail center vacancies. These data
are key to understanding where a market has been and where it is
likely to be 1, 10, or 20 years into the future. Below, we have
provided a brief overview of some of the information we collect,
review, and analyze on an ongoing basis.

Social Services Indicator Briefing

Published Quarterly
 |
|
Third Quarter
2009 Report: |
|
|
Even as the federal
government’s Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) announces plans to wind down
over the next year and the stock market continues the steady climb it began in
March, demand for social services, particularly those related to food and
medical care, continues to increase. The number of families requiring federal
aid continued to rise in September 2009, recording a new five-year high during
the month.. |

Second Quarter
2009 Report: |
|
|
Southern Nevada’s
unemployment rate soared to 12.3 percent in June, representing a 1.2 percent
month-over-month increase, and the second largest monthly uptick since December
1980. With neither a visible end nor slowing in sight to job losses in the
region, many families are being forced to make difficult decisions and are
struggling to attain basic necessities such as food and shelter. |

First Quarter
2009 Report: |
|
|
The economy
continued its rapid descent during the first quarter of 2009, entering its 16th
month of recession and marking the most pervasive decline southern Nevada, and
the nation, has experienced in more than a half century. No organization,
entity, or individual can claim immunity to the effects of today’s economic
climate. |

Fourth Quarter
2008 Report: |
|
|
Demand for social
services is increasing as the economy continues to slump and unemployment
continues to rise. At the same time, service providers are experiencing
unprecedented budgets cuts from the state. The ultimate effect is fewer services
available for people who need them now arguably more than any point in the past
50 years. |

Applied Analysis
Gaming Index

Every
month, the Applied Analysis team updates over 300 market variables and economic
indicators. One set of those indicators are the stock prices and market
capitalization for publicly-traded, gaming-related enterprises. To meet the
needs of our clients and provide some insight into the gaming sector of our
local economy, our team has developed the Applied Analysis Gaming Index (AAGI).

The AAGI is a monthly gauge on equity valuations of eight major gaming related
companies, comprised of five operators and three manufacturers of machines and
equipment. |
