Summary of Fiscal Impacts

Applied Analysis was retained by the Nevada Mining Association (the “NVMA”) to review and analyze the economic impacts associated with mining operations in Nevada as well as the mining industry more generally. This brief summarizes the fiscal impacts of the Nevada mining industry. In 2012, mining companies in the state paid $431.4 million in major taxes, which accounted for 8.2 percent of the taxes generated for the Nevada State General Fund.

Applied Analysis was retained by the Nevada Mining Association (the “NVMA”) to review and analyze the economic impacts associated with mining operations in Nevada as well as the mining industry more generally. This brief summarizes the economic impacts of the Nevada mining industry as well as statewide trends in gross product. In 2012, mining in the state continued to report significant investments and generated more than $6.4 billion in direct economic output.

Social Impacts & Environmental Accomplishments

This brief highlights the social impacts and environmental accomplishments of the Nevada mining industry. The NVMA's members are focused on giving back to the community with millions of dollars in charitable contributions, thousands of hours of community service and numerous environmental programs.

Summary of Employment and Wages

Applied Analysis was retained by the Nevada Mining Association (the "NVMA") to review and analyze the economic impacts associated with mining operations in Nevada as well as the mining industry more generally. This brief summarizes mining employment and wages in the state. In 2013, there were 12,000 metal ore mining employees in Nevada. While mining employment comprises just 1.0 percent of the state total, the sector pays an average weekly wage higher than any super sector and total annual wages of over $1.0 billion.
